THE SATOSHI FILES / FILE 002

The Coins

FACT

In Bitcoin's earliest days, mining was deliberately easy enough to be done on an ordinary computer. The network was still tiny.

KNOWN

Analysis of the early blockchain has identified distinctive mining patterns and led researchers to attribute a large number of early blocks to a dominant miner often associated with Satoshi.

But attribution is not proof.

The exact number of bitcoins mined by Satoshi remains uncertain.

UNKNOWN

Why did so many coins attributed to Bitcoin's earliest miner remain untouched?

Silence can be an absence. Or a decision.

What if the coins were never meant to move?

What if their stillness was part of the design?
